Mariana Ardanaz is an illustrator from Punta Lara, a small town near the river in Argentina. Thinking about her childhood, she remembers being a dreamy, expressive, restless girl. That's, indeed, the reason she became a book illustrator! She graduated at the Fine Arts University in La Plata, Buenos Aires. This allowed her to discover a technique that is nowadays her channel of expression: plasticine/ clay art. Not only it gives her the opportunity to draw, paint, and especially model, but most importantly, it connects her to a practice she will never give up: playing!
Since 2014 Mariana has illustrated many children's books from Argentina, España, USA and Chile, magazines, and also made characters and scenery for animated films. She belongs to the Cartoonists Association from Argentina (ADA in Spanish), where they share experiences, learn and fight for labour rights. Mariana likes dancing, watching movies and enjoys the sunshine with her daughter Matilda and her partner Lucas.
